Trojans doubled up in Red Deer
CALGARY, ALTA., (Nov. 16, 2018) — The SAIT Trojans men's hockey team had a crack at the first-place team, and things didn't go so well.
The Trojans fell 6-3 to the host Red Deer College Kings on Friday night in their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) game.
"We had a lot of pressure on them early, and played pretty well throughout the game in terms of generating chances, but we just couldn't finish," said Trojans head coach Brent Devost. "And when we couldn't finish, we got a little frustrated. . . When you're chasing, it's tough."
SAIT falls to 7-4 on the season. Red Deer improves to a league-best 8-2-0-1.
Red Deer College received goals from Dylan Baer, Tanner Butler, Anthony Neurauter, Ryley Smith, Kyle Salaway and Austin Hunter.
The Trojans responded with goals from Brendan Bartlett (1st year, Dryden, Ont., Instrumentation Engineering Technology), Colton McCarthy (3rd year, Salmon Arm, BC, Geographic Information Systems) and Zach McNeill (2nd year, Calgary, Business Administration).
The teams wrap up their weekend series Saturday night at SAIT Arena at 7pm.
"We have to eliminate some of the costly turnovers that did us in tonight," Devost said. "They didn't have a lot of sustained pressure, but things happened at key times for them that hurt us. Tomorrow, we want to tighten things up."
