Trojans double up Thunder
EDMONTON, ALTA., (Jan. 25, 2020) - After settling for a draw Friday night, the SAIT Trojans made sure they secured the win a night later.
The Trojans travelled to Edmonton on Saturday and grabbed two points in a 4-2 win over the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder in their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) game.
"Any time you can get at least three points in a weekend, it's definitely a good thing," said Trojans head coach Tyler Drader, whose team tied the Thunder 4-4 on Friday night at SAIT. "Getting this win was nice because we're trying to create some separation from those guys and climb the standings. I was happy with how we grinded it out tonight."
SAIT moves to 10-6-1-3 on the year and sit in fourth place in the ACAC standings. Concordia falls to 7-10-1-2 and find themselves in sixth.
Scoring for SAIT on the night was Kevin Massy (4th year, Victoria, BC, Bachelor of Business Administration), Parker Evans-Campbell (4th year, High River, Alta., Bachelor of Business Administration), Dylan Williamson (1st year, Calgary, Business Administration) and Rock Ruschkowski (2nd year, Calgary, Respiratory Therapy).
For Evans-Campbell, the goal was his sixth in his last four games, giving him 10 on the season.
"Determination would be the word I use to describe him," said Drader. "He works hard and goes to the dirty areas. Today, he stands in front of the net screening their goalie and the puck goes off his shoulder and in. They all count, and he's getting a lot of them lately."
Matt Benko and Evan Wood replied for the Thunder.
The Trojans will play host next weekend to the Portage College Voyageurs for a pair of home games - Friday night at 7pm and Saturday afternoon at 2pm.
