Trojans rally late, but come up short in bid for bronze
EDMONTON, ALTA., (Oct. 27, 2019) - A late charge wasn't enough, as the SAIT Trojans men's soccer team will come home without a medal.
The Trojans spotted the host NAIT Ooks a four goal lead before adding two late in the game to fall 4-2 in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Men's Soccer Championship bronze medal game played in Edmonton.
The Trojans fell to the bronze medal game after being upset in the semifinals by Red Deer College on Saturday night.
This year marks the first time since the fall of 2015 where the Trojans did not earn an ACAC medal. On a more positive note, Sunday's game marked the sixth-straight year in which SAIT has played for an ACAC medal.
Scoring for SAIT on Sunday was Reijiro Suzuki (2nd year, Tokyo, Japan, Academic Upgrading) and Armando Garcia (3rd year, Edmonton, Alta., Bachelor of Business Administration).
Replying for NAIT was Ayomidimeji Ayolade with two, Matthew Zima and Abraham Jones.
Following the game, SAIT's Bradley Atherton (2nd year, Calgary, Business Administration) was named to the Tournament All-Star team.
