Trojans falter against Clippers
CARONPORT, SASK., (Feb. 8, 2019) — Coming off an emotional win last weekend, the SAIT Trojans men's volleyball team could not carry that over.
The Trojans were handed a 3-1 (27-25, 24-26, 25-22, 25-22) loss by the host Briercrest College Clippers in their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) game. The loss comes less than a week following a thrilling five-set win over Red Deer College – a team ahead of them in the South Division standings.
"I think the guys felt what it was like to play really well and play with high energy (last weekend), and we didn't bring that tonight," said Trojans head coach Sean McKay. "Nobody on the court played a complete game. We had some guys missing up to 50 per cent of their serves, other guys hitting zero, other guys not passing well. Unfortunately, we just couldn't put anything together tonight."
SAIT falls to 13-8 on the season, while the Clippers move to 10-11 and keep their playoff hopes alive.
Jarett Noel (2nd year, Calgary, Geographic Information Systems) led the Trojans with 19 kills.
Bryton Codd led Briercrest's attack with 17 kills and three service aces.
The teams will finish their weekend set tomorrow afternoon at 2pm (MST).
