Goss, Noel and Birchall named to All-Conference Team
EDMONTON, ALTA., (Feb. 20, 2019) — The SAIT Trojans men's volleyball team saw three of their own earn Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) honours.
Setter Nathan Goss (5th year, Cochrane, Alta., Business Administration), outside Jarett Noel (2nd year, Calgary, Geographic Information Systems) and libero Andrew Birchall (2nd year, Calgary, Business Administration) were named to the ACAC South Division All-Conference Team Wednesday night at the Conference Championship awards banquet hosted by the NAIT Ooks in Edmonton, Alta.
The three aided the Trojans to a third-place finish in the South Division with a 14-10 record.
It is the second consecutive All-Conference selection for Goss, who finished fourth in the ACAC in assists per set (8.58) and fifth in assists (669).
For Noel and Birchall, it is the first time called to the stage to accept the award.
In his first season at SAIT, Noel's skills were put on display early as he put away ball after ball. His 294 kills were good for third in the league, while his 3.82 kills per set put him fourth among his peers.
Birchall, a libero in his second season at SAIT, made a name for himself with his consistent passing and ability to read the game at a high level. He finished the season with 221 digs and a 2.73 digs per set average.
