Soonias Steps Down
Coach Dallas Soonias has made the difficult decision to step down from his position as the Trojans Men's Volleyball Head Coach. Soonias, known for his exceptional skills and contributions to the Trojans, has been an integral part of the team's success over the years. His unwavering dedication to player development enabled him to foster a positive culture within the program. We thank Coach Soonias for his hard work and dedication.
In his first year with the team as an Assistant Coach (2017-18), the Trojans won the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) title and earned a trip to the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) National Championship.
During the second season of Soonias's involvement in the program (2018-19) the Trojans earned bronze at the ACAC Championships. In September 2019, Dallas was named the Trojans Men's Volleyball Head Coach. In which, he began his remarkable coaching career spanning 89 ACAC games.
As a player himself, Soonias was a dominant right side. Standing 6-foot-7, he starred in both the ACAC with Red Deer College, and at the USports level with the University of Alberta.
He then became member of Canada's Senior Men's National Team, and played for them for 13 years, becoming the first Indigenous male on the Canadian team.
Dallas looks towards the future with an exciting career with CBC Sports and the movie industry. As we bid farewell to Coach Dallas Soonias, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for his exceptional leadership and wish him all the best moving forward.
