Trojans kick off indoor track season in Edmonton

For the first time since 2016, the Trojans will host the ACAC Championships. The two-day event will take place at Repsol Sport Centre March 15 and 16.
Matthew Travaglini (4th year, London, Ont., Geomatics Engineering Technology) picked up where he left off from a successful indoor track season last year with a first place finish in the men's 1,500-metre race, crossing the finish line in 3:57.88. Teammate Jacques Saayman (3rd year, Fort McMurray, Alta., Bachelor of Business Administration) finished in second spot with a time of 4:25.75.
Brant Lauweryssen (2nd year, Calgary, Business Administration) also found the podium, placing third in the men's 600m event in a time of 1:27.69. A third place finish was also secured by women's runner Amanda Vocke (2nd year, Calgary, RTBN), who finished her 1,500m race in 5:31.02.
The Trojans will return to action in the season's second Grand Prix event on March 2 back in Edmonton when the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder will play hosts.
