Trojans take to the track
EDMONTON, ALTA., (Jan. 25, 2020) - The SAIT Trojans indoor track team kicked off their season Saturday.
The MacEwan Griffins hosted the first Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Grand Prix of the year, and the Trojans put up some impressive results.
The highlight of the day was the men's 600-metre race, where a pair of Trojans led the way.
Finishing first was Michael Stewart (1st year, Airdrie, Alta., Avionics Technology) in a time of 1:25.09, while Brant Lauweryssen (3rd year, Calgary, Business Administration) placed second in a time of 1:30.57.
Another second place finish came from Ann Danard (3rd year, Thunder Bay, Ont., Civil Engineering Technology) - this one in the women's 1,500m event after she posted a time of 5:20.24.
Other Top 10 finishes included Daryl Ross (4th year, Calgary, Business Administration) and Reilly Singleton (1st year, Calgary, Information Systems Security. They placed eighth and ninth, respectively, in the men's 1,500m race.
The Trojans will return to ACAC action on March 7 when Red Deer College hosts Grand Prix No. 2.
