Trojans rally in second half to beat Clippers
CARONPORT, SASK., (Oct. 12, 2018) — The SAIT Trojans women's basketball team rallied for a season-opening victory on Friday night.
Down the entire first half, the Trojans rallied in the second half to come back and beat the host Briercrest College Clippers 66-58 in their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) game played in Caronport, Sask.
"It was a great eye-opener for us; it showed that we need to work hard all the time," said Trojans assistant coach, Howie Leong. "I think we came into the game believing that things were going to go easy, but the game sure showed different."
SAIT moves to 1-0 on the year, while the Clippers fall to 0-1.
Down 30-28 after the first two quarters, SAIT came out in the third and went on an 18-13 run to take the lead going into the fourth.
Anegor Wol (1st year, Edmonton, Alta., Academic Upgrading) led the Trojans with 17 points and seven rebounds, while fellow rookie Skyler MacDonald (1st year, Vancouver, BC, Business Administration) added 15 of her own.
Adrianna Beck led the Clippers with 16 points.
The Trojans get right back at it tomorrow night with another road game, this one in Lethbridge, Alta., against the Lethbridge College Kodiaks. Game time is set for 6pm.
