Trojans drop fourth straight
EDMONTON, ALTA., (Oct. 13, 2018) — The SAIT Trojans women's hockey team needs some good news, fast.
Despite a late push, the Trojans dropped their fourth-straight game, losing 2-1 to the host NAIT Ooks Saturday night in their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) game played in Edmonton.
"We're looking for those chances and bounces, but for some reason, we just are not getting them," said Trojans head coach Kelsey Leifson, whose team has scored just five goals this season. "But, I think the more good things we do, the luckier we are going to get. It's coming, though. I feel it, the girls feel it."
SAIT falls to 0-4 to start the season. NAIT improves to 3-1.
"I don't like losing, but we have a lot of hockey left this season," Leifson stated. "The good thing is that the attitude in the room is still positive, as we know we can compete with each team in this league."
NAIT received a first period goal from Jenn Gaeckle and a second period marker from Verca Kuzelova.
Karmen Mooney (4th year, Squamish, BC, Construction Project Management) scored the lone Trojans goal.
SAIT goalie Elisha Oswald (3rd year, Waldersee, Man., Health Information Management) stopped 18 of 20 shots to be hung with the loss.
The Trojans return to action two weeks from now when they meet the Olds College Broncos in a home-and-home series Oct. 25 and 26.
