Trojans shutout by Broncos
CALGARY, (Feb. 9, 2019) — The SAIT Trojans women's hockey team gave up one goal, but it was one goal too many.
The Trojans fought hard, but fell 1-0 to the visiting Olds College Broncos in their Saturday night Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) game played inside SAIT's Campus Centre.
The loss drops SAIT's record to 5-14. Olds College jumps to 7-12-1 and now sit five points up on the Trojans for the fourth and final playoff spot.
The lone marker of the first period, and of the game, came when Megan Quesnel batted in a loose puck just seven seconds into a power play opportunity with just under eight minutes left.
After that, the teams battled back and forth, each getting chances to score, but unable to capitalize.
Victoria Eilers stopped 25 shots to earn the win in net for Olds College. SAIT's Elisha Oswald (3rd year, Waldersee, Man., Health Information Management) was tagged with the loss after stopping 18 shots.
The Trojans will try get back into the win column next weekend when they take on the Red Deer College Queens in a pair of home games – Friday night at 7pm, and Saturday afternoon at 2pm.
