Dhami, Prince and Leong rewarded for strong seasons
CALGARY, ALTA., (Feb. 20, 2019) — Three members of the SAIT Trojans women's volleyball team have been rewarded for their work on the court.
Middle Simran Dhami (5th year, Calgary, Bachelor of Business Administration), setter Elly Prince (3rd year, Calgary, Legal Assistant) and outside Jadyn Leong (2nd year, Calgary, Emergency Medical Technician) were all named to the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) South Division All-Conference team on Wednesday night at the Conference Championship awards banquet hosted by Ambrose University.
The trio helped the Trojans to a 14-10 record, good enough for the South Division's No. 4 seed going into the three-day Conference Championship set for Feb. 21-23.
This is the third-straight All-Conference nod for Dhami, who led the ACAC in blocks (69) and blocks per set (.84). Her final season also saw her re-write the ACAC record book in the fall semester when she became the ACAC's all-time blocks leader.
Dhami's appearance on three-straight All-Conference teams is the most for a Trojans women's volleyball player since Megan Brennan earned five-straight selections from 2013-17.
For Prince and Leong, this is the first ACAC All-Conference selection for each of them.
In Prince's first season with the Trojans, the setter recorded 409 assists in 17 games. She added 118 digs, 29 kills, 23 services aces and seven blocks.
Leong followed up a strong rookie campaign last year with a fantastic 2018/19 season. Her 246 kills and 3.00 kills per set average were good enough for fifth in the entire ACAC.
