Trojans edged by Kings
RED DEER, ALTA., (Nov. 29, 2019) - The weekend did not start well for the SAIT Trojans men's hockey team.
Playing on the road Friday night, the Trojans were beaten 6-4 by the host Red Deer College Kings in their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) contest.
"We got off to a good start, and thought we were playing pretty decent," said Trojans head coach Tyler Drader. "And then we gave up two late ones to end the first period, which is always tough. We need to be more diligent there."
SAIT falls to 6-4-1-2 on the season with the loss.
Scoring for the Trojans on Friday night was Mark Drohan (1st year, Canmore, Alta., Academic Upgrading), Eric Krienke (3rd year, Calgary, Business Administration), Colton McCarthy (4th year, Salmon Arm, BC, Geographic Information Systems) and Jackson McKinstry (3rd year, Calgary, Business Administration).
The teams will meet up again Saturday night at SAIT at 7pm in the final game of the first semester.
"Any time you take nine penalties like we did tonight, you're just asking for trouble," Drader said. "We need to do a better job of staying out of the box, because we can play with anybody in this league when we do that."
