SAIT struggles in loss to Broncos
CALGARY, ALTA., (Nov. 9, 2019) - For the second time in as many nights, SAIT Trojans women's basketball coach Bir Parmar has not been happy with his team's effort.
On Saturday, the Trojans met the defending Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) National Champion Olds College Broncos, and found out why they are the champs with a 100-63 loss in their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) contest played at SAIT's Campus Centre.
"Another poor start that set everything in motion," said Parmar, whose team found themselves down 32-9 after the first quarter. "Pretty frustrating that we go back to back nights with poor efforts."
SAIT falls to 1-4. Olds falls to 3-1.
"We're playing ourselves out of games by not putting the ball in the bucket," Parmar added. "It's as simple as that, and we need to figure it out."
Making things worse for the Trojans was the fact that Broncos all-star Brittney Thibeaux had a game for the ages, scoring 61 points and adding 17 rebounds.
Trojans guard Kendal Russell (2nd year, Strathmore, Alta., Academic Upgrading) led her team with 18 points.
SAIT will return to action next weekend with just one game - Friday night against the visiting Briercrest College Clippers.
