Trojans start weekend set with a win
OLDS, ALTA., (Nov. 30, 2018) — The SAIT Trojans women's volleyball team are not known for their service game, but that might change after Friday's performance.
The Trojans recorded eight service aces in just three sets as they beat the host Olds College Broncos 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-18) in their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) game played in Olds, Alta.
"We put a lot of pressure on them with our serve, which is interesting because that's been a bit of a bugaboo for us," said Trojans head coach Art O'Dwyer. "We spent some time on that this week, made some adjustments, and it really paid off tonight."
SAIT moves to 9-4 on the season. Olds College falls to 1-12.
Three of those eight aces came off the right hand of Jadyn Leong (2nd year, Calgary, Emergency Medical Technician), who also recorded six kills and 12 digs.
Teammate Simran Dhami (5th year, Golden, BC, Bachelor of Business Administration), who just last week became the ACAC's all-time blocks leader, added five more in the victory.
Megan Gladdie led the Broncos with five kills.
The teams wrap up the fall semester Saturday night at SAIT's Campus Centre at 6pm.
