SAIT Trojans Show Out at Convocation
The SAIT Trojans Athletics and Recreation Department was well represented at SAIT’s fall convocation ceremony held November 13th, 2025.
Former student-athletes Rebecca Haberstock and Owen Taylor, along with minor official Lance Santiago played major roles in the event held in the Jubilee Auditorium on Day 2 of SAIT 2025 Convocation.
Haberstock, a former Trojans women’s volleyball player (2022, 2023) and Bachelor of Business Administration student, was honoured with the Governor General Silver Medal.
In 2025, Haberstock showed off her leadership skills as she captained SAIT’s Vanier Marketing Case Competition team to victory at the 2025 Alberta Intercollegiate Sales and Marketing.
Since graduating earlier this year, she has balanced a career in marketing with coaching local volleyball.
Taylor and Santiago were both chosen to speak as valedictorians this week.
A Water and Wastewater Operations student, Taylor ran for the SAIT Trojans cross-country and indoor track teams in the 2024-25 season, competing in both sport’s Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Championships.
Taylor, who is Métis, also spent his time on campus helping tutor and support other Indigenous students at SAIT’s Indigenous support centre, Natoysopoyiis. As Vice-President of SAIT’s Enactus team, Owen also helped implement a new role, Indigenous Relations Coordinator, to build community ties and bring Indigenous perspectives to student social entrepreneurship.
Through his role in Enactus, Taylor continuously pushed the team to innovate, implementing a Research and Development department and streamlining the project development process. He has spoken at four Enactus competitions and helped lead the Enactus SAIT team that placed in the semi-finals two years in a row.
Santiago, a Business Administration student, lent his voice and personality to the Trojans during the 2024-25 season. In the position of minor official, Lance worked game days for the Trojans when he wasn’t busy acting as Vice-President for SAITSA or working as a Global Student Ambassador for SAIT.
Congratulations to Rebecca, Taylor and Lance - and to all graduating Trojans and SAIT grads on crossing the stage this week.
