Trojans sink Voyageurs
CALGARY, ALTA., (Jan. 31, 2020) - The SAIT Trojans men's hockey team started slow and finished strong Friday night.
SAIT scored seven goals in the final two periods, as they beat the struggling Portage College Voyageurs 8-2 in their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) game played inside Trojans Arena.
"If you look at our first half, we had trouble taking care of games that we should have," said Trojans forward Cory Santoro (3rd year, Kelowna, BC, Bachelor of Business Administration), who had a goal and two assists on the night. "We almost did the same in the first, but came out in the second and third and answered the bell and got the win."
The Trojans move to 11-6-1-3, while the Voyageurs fall to 0-20-1.
Barrett Sheen (1st year, Airdrie, Alta., Business Administration) started the scoring for SAIT in the opening period.
SAIT added five more in the second when Parker Evans-Campbell (4th year, High River, Alta., Bachelor of Business Administration), Joren Patenaude (2nd year, Calgary, Business Administration), Taden Rattie (1st year, Airdrie, Alta., Business Administration), Dylan Williamson (1st year, Calgary, Business Administration) and Santoro found the back of the net.
Two more were added in the final period off the sticks of Kord Pankiewicz (3rd year, Leduc, Alta., Business Administration) and Jared Power (1st year, Calgary, Business Administration).
Replying for the Voyageurs was Kaleb Bell and Adam Crowe.
Trojans goalie Kyle Dumba (1st year, Calgary, Business Administration) stopped 33 shots to pick up the win.
The Trojans and Voyageurs will finish their weekend set Saturday afternoon at home in a 2pm puck drop.
