Trojans fall in double OT
RED DEER, ALTA., (Feb. 28, 2020) - The SAIT Trojans managed to earn just one point Friday night.
Playing in their second to last Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) regular season game of the year, the Trojans fell 6-5 in double overtime to the host Red Deer College Kings.
SAIT falls to 12-10-2-3 on the year, while Red Deer improves to 20-5-2-0.
Scoring in the game for SAIT was Colton McCarthy (4th year, Salmon Arm, BC, Geographic Information Systems), Kord Pankiewicz (3rd, Leduc, Alta., Business Administration), Dylan Williamson (1st year, Calgary, Business Administration), Zach McNeill (3rd year, Calgary, Business Administration) and Jared Power (1st year, Calgary, Business Administration).
McCarthy added an assist for a two-point night, which helped him crack the 100 career ACAC point plateau.
Chase Thudium replied with a pair of goals for the Kings, while Regan Doig, Scott Ferguson, Lynnden Pastachak and Trevor Costello also found the back of the net.
SAIT goalie Aaron Swier (1st year, Morningside, Alta., Electrical Engineering Technology) made his very first start of the season, allowing six goals on 27 shots.
SAIT will wrap up their regular season Saturday night at home against this same Kings team. Puck drop is set for 7pm.
