Trojans compete at ACUC
CALGARY, ALTA., (Nov. 19, 2019) - The SAIT Trojans squash team took to the court this past weekend at the Alberta College and University Squash Championships.
The Trojans took on athletes from Mount Royal University, the University of Calgary and the University of Alberta in a three-day event held at the University of Calgary Racquet Centre Nov. 15-17.
The men's team of Nathan Pruden, Varun Mittal, Zachary Stewart, Nicolas Johnson and Connor Goodfellow had a solid showing, placing third out of eight teams.
"The third place finish is the highest ranking ever achieved by SAIT," said Trojans head coach Ron Coogan. "Even our loss in the semifinals to the eventual winners was by the narrowest of margins."
In singles action, Pruden finished fifth in the Men's A Division, while Mittal took third in the B/C Combined Division with a 3-1 win over his teammate, Stewart.
Johnson ended his weekend with a win in the Consolation Final.
"The boys battled all weekend long and we are pretty proud of how they held their own," Coogan added. "We're excited to see this program continue to build."
