Trojans suffer setback against Broncos
OLDS, ALTA., (Nov. 23, 2019) - A bad first half sunk the SAIT Trojans women's basketball team Saturday night.
The Trojans gave up 66 points in the first 20 minutes of play, as they were beaten 103-53 by the host Olds College Broncos in their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) game played in Olds, Alta.
"I wish I could say we came out tonight and played with the courage needed to beat a team like that," said Trojans head coach Bir Parmar. "But unfortunately, we came in a little scared and that showed on the scoreboard."
SAIT falls to 3-5, while Olds improves to 7-1.
While SAIT did their best to limit the output of points Broncos star Brittney Thibeaux, who scored just 10 points in the game, Thibeaux's teammate Micheala Allen-Guillon more than made up for it.
The guard scored 49 points, while adding eight assists, five rebounds and four steals.
Rachel Osczevski (2nd year, Rocky Mountain House, Alta., Nutrition for Healthy Lifestyles) led the Trojans with 15 points and nine rebounds.
The Trojans will return to action next weekend with a home-and-home series with the Lethbridge College Kodiaks.
