Trojans dumped in fall semester finale
CALGARY, ALTA., (Nov. 29, 2019) - The first semester has come to a close for the SAIT Trojans women's basketball team.
In front of their home crowd, the Trojans struggled to shoot the ball in a 56-47 loss to the Lethbridge College Kodiaks in their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) game played at SAIT's Campus Centre.
"We had the opportunities, we had the looks, but unfortunately we changed what we were doing first half to second half," said Trojans head coach Bir Parmar.
SAIT will finish the first semester with a 3-7 record. Lethbridge moves to 6-4.
In similar fashion to Friday night, the halftime score on Saturday was 33-29 for the Kodiaks.
And much like Friday's 73-48 loss, a third quarter in which SAIT could not find the bottom of the net led them to their demise.
On Saturday, the Trojans shot just 5 per cent from field, as the Kodiaks widened the gap between the teams.
The Trojans outscored their guests 13-10 in the final quarter, but by then it was too late.
Lauren Bailey (4th year, Calgary, Bachelor of Business Administration) led the Trojans with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Denajha Kie paced the Kodiaks with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
The Trojans will return to action in the new year when they take on St. Mary's University on Jan. 17 and 18.
"Getting healthy is probably the biggest key for us over the break," Parmar stated. "We're also adding some bodies to the roster that will change the dynamic."
