Trojans split against Ambrose
CALGARY, ALTA., (Feb. 14, 2020) - The SAIT Trojans women's and men's basketball teams went 1-1 on Friday night.
In their all-Calgary Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) matchup against the Ambrose University Lions, the women's team battled to a 65-46 victory, while the men's side fell 102-88.
The women's game saw SAIT get out to an early 23-12 lead after the first quarter. After that, their defence took over, as they forced the Lions to turn over the ball 30 times throughout the game.
SAIT, who has been eliminated from playoff contention, moves to 5-12 on the season. Ambrose falls to 3-14.
Leading the way Friday for SAIT Friday night was Richina Foggo (4th year, Calgary, Nutrition for Healthy Lifestyles). She scored a team-high 15 points while adding 13 rebounds.
Tegan McArthur led the Lions with 13 points.
In the men's game, the Trojans saw their six-game winning streak come to an end thanks to the sharp shooting of the Lions.
Ambrose connected on 13 three-point shots compared to SAIT's seven, as they moved to 2-1 against the Trojans in their season series.
SAIT falls to 13-4 on the year, while Ambrose moves to 10-7.
Charlie Conner (3rd year, Lacey, Wash., Business Administration) led the Trojans with 26 points and seven rebounds.
Ambrose had seven players hit double-digit point totals with Isaac Amsing's 19 leading the way.
The Trojan teams will return to action next weekend with a home-and-home series against Medicine Hat College - Friday night at home, Saturday night on the road.
