Wiebe pulls double duty as South Rookie and Player of the Year
OCTOBER 28 – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Meaghan Wiebe of the SAIT Trojans has been selected as the 2021-22 ACAC Women's Soccer South Division Player and Rookie of the Year.
Wiebe recorded an impressive debut season with the Trojans, scoring 13 goals and 27 points in just six games played - scoring at least twice in every one of her regular season contests. Her team finished the regular season atop the South Division standings with a perfect 6-0 record.
The last Trojan women's soccer player to win each of those awards was Deanna Kuan, who won Rookie of the Year in 2016-17 and then Player of the Year in 2018-19.
"Meaghan returned to the game of soccer after taking some time away to focus on her academics, and put together an impressive season," said Trojans head coach, John Talerico. "She has a great attitude and tremendous work ethic, and it was good to see that translate into some success for not only her, but our team as well."
Wiebe was also named an CCAA All-Canadian and an ACAC All-Conference selection this season.
Wiebe, from Calgary, is a Diagnostic Medical Sonography student at SAIT.
