Four Trojans named to ACAC All-Conference Team
LETHBRIDGE, ALTA., (Oct. 27, 2022) – A quartet of Trojans were honoured for the music they made on the soccer field this season.
Jasmin Salmon, Janae Worobets, Harleen Singh and Emma Ward were all named to the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference's (ACAC) Women's Soccer South Division All-Conference Team Thursday night at the Awards Banquet hosted by Lethbridge College.
For the fifth-year veteran Salmon, it is her third-straight All-Conference selection. As a defender, she helped her Trojans to a 9-1 record this season. Her coach John Talerico praised her leadership off the field as much as on it, and joked that she can be sneaky loud on the field when the time calls for it.
Singh, Ward and Worobets each got the call for the first time in their careers.
Singh, a third-year forward, had a standout season for the Red and White, scoring 11 goals and adding eight assists in 12 games played. Her consistency throughout the season resulted in the numbers she put up, and she could be relied upon on both ends of the field.
Ward, a second-year midfielder, had a tough job this season taking over for former Trojans star Jaime McPherson. She was able to handle the duties remarkably well. Small in stature, she never shied away from the physical play and made smart decisions throughout the year.
Worobets, a goalkeeper coach last season who came back to play this year, came in as a mature player and really made an impact with her work ethic on and off the field. Talerico praised her communication skills as one of the reasons why she is one of the best keepers in the ACAC.
The Trojans open the Championships Friday evening at 5:30pm when they will take on the NAIT Ooks in a rematch of last year's Championship Final.
