Trojans dropped by Queens in three
CALGARY, ALTA., (Jan. 31, 2020) - The SAIT Trojans women's volleyball team saw their winning streak come to a screeching halt.
The Trojans played host to the Red Deer College Queens Friday night, and were handed a 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-19) loss in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) action played inside the friendly confines of SAIT's Campus Centre.
"Credit to (Red Deer). They took away certain things and we couldn't get kills from other positions," said Trojans head coach Art O'Dwyer. "If you can't do that, you're in tough."
SAIT falls to 6-15 on the season. Red Deer College improves to 15-2.
"They played very steady and exposed our weaknesses, and we need to overcome that. That will be the message," O"Dwyer added.
Before even playing this weekend, the Trojans were eliminated from playoff contention when Ambrose University beat Lethbridge College.
Jadyn Leong (3rd year, Calgary, Business Administration) and Brooke Litwinski (1st year, Red Deer, Journalism) each had six kills to lead SAIT.
Emma Holmes led the Queens with a game-high 11 kills.
SAIT and Red Deer College will finish their weekend set Saturday night in Red Deer - women at 6pm and men at 8pm.
