Trojans go 0-2 in Red Deer
RED DEER, ALTA., (Feb. 1, 2020) - Saturday's road trip was not a fruitful one for the SAIT Trojans men's and women's volleyball teams.
Both teams fell to the hosts from Red Deer College - the women 3-1 (25-16, 20-25, 25-15, 25-13) and the men 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-22) - in their respective Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) games.
The loss drops the women's team record to 6-16, while the men fall to 16-6.
In the women's game, SAIT was led by outside Jadyn Leong (3rd year, Calgary, Business Administration). The veteran outside recorded a team-high 16 kills to go along with three aces and five digs.
Teammate Linnea Brickwood (2nd year, Kamloops, BC, Nutrition for Healthy Lifestyles) added 24 assists and four digs.
Emma Holmes led the Queens with 19 kills and 12 digs.
In the men's contest, the Trojans were led by middle Ayden Rust's (2nd year, Calgary, Information Technology) seven kills and three blocks.
Rookie setter Andrew Seguin (1st year, Sturgeon County, Alta., Power Engineering Technology) chipped in with 25 assists and eight digs.
Carter Hills paced the Kings with 14 kills, four aces and six digs.
The Trojans will have a bye next weekend before wrapping up their regular season with a home-and-home set against the Lethbridge College Kodiaks on Valentine's Day weekend.
